“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” – Nelson Mandela
In India, only 70% of children make it beyond elementary school. For children from poor and marginalized backgrounds, the figure is much lower. For example, more than 20 million children live in slums, where they face extreme poverty and have limited access to support services, often victim to child labor, begging, substance abuse, early marriage, or prostitution.
While the task may seem daunting, we must act to improve the conditions in which children live so that they too can have a bright future.
Through our projects, we strategically tackle the many challenges that children and families face. We look at the most dire needs in communities and respond accordingly. After all, a child without access to nutrition, medical care, social and emotional support, and emergency relief cannot learn. That’s why we holistically support children through early childhood education, mobile health vans, gender awareness workshops, and informal education opportunities. Since our founding in 1992, these projects have allowed us to touch the lives of more than 300,000 children and their families. View our Projects here.
