On July 25th, Children’s Hope India held an event at the Indian Consulate celebrating the opening of the Children’s Hope India Girls School (CHIGS), with a special recognition for Mr. Nari Pohani, the seasoned developer and visionary behind the project. The school, which opened this past April in Bhopal, India, will be a game-changer for the girl child in Gandhinagar and surrounding villages, providing 800 young girls a quality education at affordable fees in English medium from Standard VI to XII (Grades 6 – 12). CHIGS is run by CHI’s partner Jeev Sewa Sansthan (JSS) according to the vision of CHI.
At the event on the 25th, at which Consul General Sandeep Chakravorty was in attendance, over 100 supporters of Children’s Hope gathered together for a cocktail reception, followed by a program which began with a welcome by CHI Vice President Sagorica Rudra and a prayer dance by two teens who are part of CHI’s teen volunteer group. President Dina Pahlajani then showcased the new school in presentation format. Past president Maya Rajani presented plaques to Mr. Pohani and Mr. Mahesh Dayaramani, Secretary of JSS, and then thanked the major donors of the school and the organization. Consul General Chakravorty spoke at the event about the importance of the work CHI and other similar organizations are doing. The evening concluded with a vote of thanks by CHI board member Nami Kaur.
