LONG ISLAND, NY, October 3, 2017 – Children’s Hope India Marks 25 Years of Transforming Children’s Dreams into Reality!
Children’s Hope India invites you to a wonderful evening highlighting our prime mission – the education of underserved children. This year’s gala at Pier Sixty on October 28, is very special because it marks the 25th year of Children’s Hope India’s work and brings together our many supporters for a real live celebration of bettering children’s lives. What started as a small group of women professionals trying to make a difference with one orphanage in Mumbai today covers 22 projects across India and has taken on four schools, emphasizing CHI’s cradle to career holistic philosophy for the welfare of children.
Over 500 guests are expected from the Tri-State area to congratulate and celebrate our Lotus Award honoree Chandrika Tandon and Making a Difference honoree Bob Roth. The Master of Ceremonies of this evening is Tinku Jain, noted broadcaster and philanthropist.
Chandrika Tandon is a leader in the worlds of business, education, and the arts, dedicated to public service. She is Vice-Chairman of the Board of Trustees of New York University, Chair of NYU’s President’s Global Council, Chair of the Board of the NYU Tandon School of Engineering and serves on the Boards of the NYU School of Business and Medicine. She is a Grammy-nominated composer and singer, and has a new album “Shivoham- The Quest” – a universal journey she dedicates to seekers of the light everywhere and the teachers that guide their path.
Guests are in for a gourmet adventure with celebrity chef Gaurav Anand, the man behind New York’s Moti Mahal, Bhatti Grill, Awadh and Aroqa. For the gala, he recreates the joys of NYC street delights for the cocktail hour, followed by a special sit-down dinner with an innovative menu.
A highlight of the evening will be the live auction of life-changing ventures where guests get to bid on educational projects for the newly created Children’s Hope Girls Academy in Bhopal. By live bidding any amount, they can make these children’s dreams a reality. This exciting auction will be conducted by Sandhya Jain-Patel of Christie’s.
Not to be missed is the auction of donated must-have items including fabulous jewelry by Madison Avenue jeweler Nirav Modi; air tickets to India on the national carrier Air India; and a chance to drive home a Tesla for the weekend. All proceeds will benefit Children’s Hope India’s education programs. These items can also be bid on by going on the 501Auction site.
About Children’s Hope India:
More than two decades ago, Children’s Hope India started as a small group of women professionals hoping to make a difference in the lives of disadvantaged children. Now in 2017, Children’s Hope India has over 22 projects across several cities in India and the New York Metropolitan area, and has impacted over 250,000 children by looking after their health, education and vocational training.
The focus of Children’s Hope India is the ‘whole’ child and providing all the tools a child needs to progress from poverty to prosperity with a cradle to career approach. Since 2015 alone, CHI has allocated over $1.5 million to programs in several cities in India and additional ones in the New York metro area. We are expanding access to education to enrich and empower children for life in the 21st century.
